If You volunteered at a REBELS Car Show, THANK YOU!!!
The REBELS Car Show is always special, and here is why: A major concern with local car shows is when the sponsoring club tends to favor their own members entries ahead of others. Whether or not this is true, the REBELS Auto Club Car Show eliminates any question. It's a simple solution, really ... REBELS Members are simply not allowed to enter their own vehicles in the show. Judging is always on show participants ... NOT Club Members.
The REBELS Auto Club awards nearly a hundred trophies at this show each year. Not just teeny cheapies either, but real trophies! Not everyone gets a trophy of course, but awards go to the top three vehicles in each class plus special awards for ‘Best in Show', ‘Longest Distance Traveled', ‘Most Attending Car Club’, etc.
The REBELS Auto Club hosts many events during the year.
The most common is the Club Meeting, normally held on the last Wednesday of each month at designated locations, which are various area restaurants.
Members typically arrive around 6:00 pm and enjoy dinner in a relaxed atmosphere. The Meeting officially begins at 7:00 pm. Meetings follow "Roberts Rules of Order", including the standard Welcome, Secretary report, Treasurer report, Events Coordinator report, and Old and New business, etc.
Meetings usually adjourn around 8:00 pm, but many Members stay and visit. REBELS Meetings have become a family tradition and many long-lasting friendships have been formed.
The hit of the REBELS Auto Club Meeting is "Margaret’s Cake”.
Longtime Member Margaret Otley brings the most delicious, moist, scrumptious cake (which she makes from scratch) to every Meeting. To say that Members are pleased with Margaret's cake is an understatement. Margaret’s cakes are perfect for the occasion and are the best tasting cake and frosting you have ever eaten. Some Members say things like "I just go for the cake!” Even those who are not dessert people go back for seconds. This is Serious Drool!
Margaret's cakes are truly beautiful, and perfect in every way. They are the perfect way to end every REBELS meeting.
THANK YOU Margaret!
Each year the REBELS Auto Club provides cash donations to worthy causes as determined by the Board of Directors.
For example, the REBELS Auto Club donated $1,000 to a Texas Hurricane fund sponsored by Hi-Vee, who matched our donation. That means because of the generosity of Hy-Vee and the REBELS, $2,000 was donated to help flood victims.
The REBELS also have a special place for Younger Members through the Josh Grimes Memorial Scholarship Fund.
As the rising sun began peeking through each morning, all around is silence and stillness. Suddenly, off in the distance, the staccato bark of a racing engine comes to life shattering the tranquility. You can just feel it. You are going to see fast cars!
Since 1944, SCCA has brought motor sports to the masses of American men and women who are passionate about automobiles, speed and competition. From National Championships to regional events, whether professional or amateur, they exist to organize, support and develop auto racing at every level and provide an outlet for you to get out of the armchair and into the action. So, whether your passion is auto crossing, rallying or road racing as a professional or as a weekend warrior, SCCA helps you fuel your passion.
So, what are you waiting for? Be a volunteer next year and have the time of your life! You don't need to own a race car. You don't need to be mechanically inclined. You don't even have to be a member of the REBELS Auto Club! You just have to enjoy the speed, sound and atmosphere of motor sports.
Plus, if you volunteer, we can even get you a ride around the test track in one of the cars at full speed! It's absolutely the thrill of a lifetime!
